As the semester ends, so does the library’s work to prep its new system to go live in June. We have been working diligently on a so many things, and here is what you need to know.

  1. Friday, April 25th, we submitted our information to have our electronic resources available when we go live. We have a lot based on the list we submitted!
  2. Friday, May 2nd, we will be done with testing the setup in our new system environment. We have done much work, but it’s time to let it go until June. Here we begin our strategy for training.
  3. Friday, May 23rd, will be the last day for borrowing material through the OhioLINK system until mid-June. We will share the exact date when you can borrow again when we have information to share.
  4. Return any library material that you have as soon as possible. This will allow us to have fewer items that we need to track manually.

Our new system has added modules that we are also looking to implement. We are discussing our approach to those and will share more information in the future.

Stay tuned for information on the new things happening in the college archives.

As a member of the OhioLINK library consortium, the Ralph M. Besse Library is pleased to announce that we will be upgrading to a new library services platform, Ex Libris, in the Summer of 2025. The migration includes new web-based applications for librarians, Alma and Rapido, as well as a new search tool for patrons, Primo, that includes the technology to make URSearch a more robust tool.

Throughout the process there are a series of times when users may see some disruption in online services, though most will be taking place during the Summer semester. Here’s what you need to know now.

  1. Links: You will continue to be able to access all available library resources from the library webpage, https://www.ursuline.edu/library. However, if you provide direct links to our current catalog or articles through our databases, you will need to update them after the new catalog and URSearch goes live on June 11, 2025. More information to come on this, and we will be here to help.
  2. OhioLINK: Borrowing will not be allowed May 23, 2025 – June 13, 2025.
  3. Research Guides: Many links, library instruction materials, and research guides currently available on the website will need to be updated in the months after the migration. The librarians will have these ready for use as soon as possible.

Please know that our current A-Z Database and Library Guides will not be affected  at any point in the coming months. Students and faculty will still be able to access electronic journals, periodicals, and databases in the same way.

As we move through this process we will keep you informed of things that will affect our users. Faculty may want to start thinking about when you want to meet with your librarian liaison to go over links to books, articles, and videos in syllabi and D2L courses. We will be able to start that work after June 13th.

Stay tuned for more information in the future.
