Banned and Challenged Books Week

Banned Books Week is Sept 22-28, 2019. The theme this year is "Censorship Leave Us in the Dark"

2019 Activities at Ursuline College to Support Banned and Challenged Books

Banning books doesn't just come from removing items from libraries or vandalizing books.  Some authors face serious backlash in other countries.

One of our display will focus on authors who have books published in English, including print and online journalists, novelists, bloggers, and photojournalists. These authors have been sentenced to or are facing long jail terms, had their travel restricted, faced deportation, had family harassed, been sentenced to death, tortured and/or killed with impunity.

Special Thanks to Edward McKennon for the inspiration at his ACRL 2019 Presentation.  Read more here
